Mr. Sunimal Silva (T.M.S.K.N. Silva) was born on February 14th, 1943 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Vidyodaya University (now the University of Sri Jayawardenepura) in 1969. He started his 40 years of teaching career from the Arthadassi Vidyalaya, Gonakowila. After serving at a few other schools in rural Sri Lanka, Mr. Silva joined Royal College, Colombo 7 in 1973 and continued to serve there for 30 years until his retirement.

Mr. Silva has held several administrative positions during his service at Royal College. He was the Master in-charge of Prefects from 1978-2002, Deputy Principal from 1993-2002, and finally, retired as the Principal of the Royal College Primary in 2003. Also, he served as the Master-in-charge of Libraries, President and Secretary of the Teachers Guild, and Treasure of the Credit Society too. Mr. Silva is a qualified Sports Instructor of the Department of Education and a qualified Swimming Instructor of the Department of Education and the National Amateur Aquatic Sports Union (NAASU). He served as the Master-in-charge of Swimming for 25 years (1978-2003).

Mr. Sunimal Silva and his wife Ms. Mala Silva have been married since July 8th, 1976. Their elder daughter Sumali Silva is working as a Civil Aviation Officer at the Civil Aviation Authority, Sri Lanka and the younger daughter Supuni Silva is currently reading for her PhD in Biology at the University of North Texas, USA.
